Celebrating the Agora Gourmet App at eleven!
It has been an exciting few months launching the Agora Gourmet App, which commenced with our Battle of the Beverage event on the 1st of April. With the guest list ranging from artisan producers, media, editors and investors, we had a great list of attendees that were eager to gain an understanding of the platform.
Guests were greeted upon arrival with a cocktail made from Barossa Valley Brewing’s Pale Ale, Seppeltsfield Road Distiller’s gin and Varci’s tonic syrup. A strange combination you may be thinking, but it was a hit! Guests were seated and Denham D’Silva introduced the Agora app and explained how the night would work. Beer, wine and gin would compete against one another by pairing one of their beverages to a meal and guests were to vote for the drink they believe paired the best. Barossa Valley Brewing, Cooper Burns Wines and Seppeltsfield Road Distillers would be the contenders.
The first course was beautifully presented with Barossa Fine Food’s chorizo and barbequed king prawns, with yellow romesco, endive and chorizo oil. It was a perfect start to the menu and was paired with Rosé and House gin. The vote was extremely close with Rosé winning by 1 vote!
The hero of the next course was South Aussie with Cosi’s slow cooked lamb shoulder with blistered roma tomatoes, celeriac and bagna cauda. The melt in your mouth lamb was paired with Shiraz and Pale Ale, with Shiraz taking the cake for this course.
Woodside cheese wrights was the star for dessert with buffalo curd crème with pickled figs, honeycomb and fig leaf oil. Coffee Stout and Savoury Allsorts Gin were put to the test, with stout winning this round.
All of the drinks paired so well with the dishes, however wine was the overall winner! Each guest was given a block of chocolate from Yours Truly and a can of Barossa Valley Brewing beer personalised with everyone’s name to take home and enjoy. Callum and his team at eleven did fantastic job and we’re already excited for the next event!
